    Responsibilities

    As Patient Registration Coordinator, you will be responsible for assisting county residents in making application for various subsidized health care services. Determine client's eligible for services based on specific criteria. Perform follow-up case maintenance.

     

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Inform clients of services available.
    2. Interview clients to gather information to determine eligibility.
    3. Assist client in completing application, if necessary.
    4. Obtain, verify and calculate all sources of income and resources to determine financial eligibility of clients.
    5. Apply eligibility criteria to applicant's case, using specific state forms, program rules and guidelines.
    6. Document case records for each client with necessary verification documents and demographic information.
    7. Issue appropriate statement of services to applicant when eligibility determination has been made.
    8. Process changes to client status; restore benefits as necessary to ensure accurate and timely case management, and inform Accounts Receivable staff of eligibility changes that affect previous account balances.
    9. Answer client inquires to provide information on status of case action.
    10. Receive and answer telephone/walk-in inquiries.
    11. Update practice management system with eligibility and demographic information.
    12. Accept other job related training and development in new tasks and technologies.
    13. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein as may be assigned or delegated.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. High school diploma or GED.
    2. One year work experience in a public capacity.
    3. Familiarity with office machines: computer keyboarding, calculator, photocopying machine and laminating machine.
    4. Ability to correctly complete documentation.
    5. Ability to work with people of all socioeconomic levels.
    6. Bilingual ability in Spanish required.

    SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    1. One year of work experience in a medical setting, or three years of customer service/receptionist experience required.
    2. Familiarity with office machines: computer, calculator, fax, and photocopier.
    3. Familiarity with basic accounting principles and insurance billing.
    4. Demonstrated helpful, positive attitude.
    5. Demonstrated ability to handle difficult staff and patients.
    6. High ethical standards.
    7. Strong work ethic.
    8. Demonstrated ability for multi-tasking.
    9. Demonstrated customer service skills
    10. Demonstrated problem solving skills
