    Responsibilities

    As a WIC Clerk/Health Aide for AccessHealth, you will be responsible for performing the assigned clinical, technical and clerical support necessary to complete the WIC certification process and issuance of WIC food Benefits. You will be obtaining documentation from WIC participants, explaining the requirements and benefits of the program, supplying clients with food benefits, and scheduling appointments; receiving visitors and clients at the front desk; and performing related clerical support activities.

     

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
     
    1. Answer phones, make appointments and perform tasks necessary for transfer of participants to and from the local agency.
    2. Prepare and set up client charts.
    3. Maintain an efficient and organized file room.
    4. Determine participant categorical, financial and residential eligibility according to WIC policy.
    5. Provide clinical WIC services necessary for eligibility, including recording 24 hour diet recall, weighing, measuring and graphing, and testing for blood hemoglobin levels.
    6. Provide appropriate participant referrals.
    7. Maintain accurate and confidential records.
    8. Perform clerical and automation support tasks necessary for WIC daily reports, certification, nutrition education classes, food delivery and transfer of information to the WIC State Agency.
    9. Promote breast-feeding as the preferred infant feeding method.
    10. Screen infants and children for current immunization status and make appropriate referrals.
    11. Inventory office supplies, medical supplies and equipment as assigned.
    12. Prepare required WIC end of the month reports.
    13. Provide client confidentiality and good customer service.
    14. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein as may be assigned or delegated by the WIC supervisor or nutritionist.
    a. Comply with all company policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
    b. Performs all other duties as assigned by management.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    REQUIRED:

     

    High school diploma or GED.

     
    SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: 
     
     REQUIRED:
    1. One-year work experience, preferably in the health field.
    2. Ability to work with people of all socioeconomic levels.
    3. Ability to organize work, develops procedures, and follows instructions.
    4. Ability to coordinate heavy correspondence including confidential documents.
    5. Ability to maintain confidence regarding information processed.
    6. High ethical standards.
    7. Well-organized and self-directed.
    8. Good keyboarding skills and legible handwriting.
    9. Team player.
    10. Ability to relate to people at all levels in the organization.
    11. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
    12. Ability to handle multiple projects.
    13. Bilingual preferred but not required.
